Behavior Management and More...

In my classroom we like to keep it simple.  There are just 2 rules:
  1. Be nice
  2. Be safe
In 4K everything can fall under these 2 categories.  When I taught 5K I had a 3rd rule: Be a learner, but in 4K not everyone is ready to be a learner.  Well in 5K not everyone is ready either, but that's another story...

My cheesy classroom sayings...
  • Bathroom - "Do your business. Wash your hands. Line up."
  • Handwashing - "One pump of soap, One papertowel."
  • Drinks at the water fountain "One banana. Two banana. Three banana. SPLIT!"
  • Hallway song - "My hands are resting by my side, I'm standing straight and tall.  My eyes are looking straight ahead.  I'm ready for the hall. ZIP!"
  • Meals - "Bon appetit now you may eat"
  • Snack or when kids get slightly different things/colors - "You get what you get and you don't pitch a fit."
  • After announcements when the principal says have an above the line day we all say "Make good choices"
  • Clean-up "Clean up. Clean up everybody everywhere. Clean up clean up everybody do your share."
  • Additional rules when children are moody - No angry birds, krabby patties, or sassafras allowed.
More to come...
